Jabi Lake Mall was on Thursday shut down over threats of terror attack in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Management of the mall announced this development in a statement on its official Instagram page on Thursday.

“Jabi Lake Mall will be closed today, Thursday, 27 October 2022. This decision has been taken in the overall interest of the safety of all staff and customers of the mall.

“Centre Management is committed to minimising any disruptions; however, the safety of our staff and shoppers remains our highest priority,” the statement reads in part.

The mall’s management said it was constantly reviewing the security situation in consultation with relevant security authorities and “will inform you when the mall will be re-opened.”

Earlier in the week, the U.S. Embassy had warned of possible terror attack on government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, bars, and hotels, with the nation’s capital.

Similarly, Australia, Canada and Ireland have all issued security advisories to their nationals living in Nigeria, particularly those in the Federal Capital Territory.

However, the security alerts had been dismissed by the country’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who said the  U.S. and UK’s “click bait” security warnings forced schools to shut down and disrupted commercial activities in Abuja.

The latest security advisories from foreign embassies comes a few months after Boko Haram terrorists bombed Kuje Prisons, freeing their members into the nation’s capital.

Bandits have in another attack had also killed three elite officers of Presidential Guards Brigade in an ambush in Abuja, forcing the regime to immediately announce school closure in the nation’s capital.
