Tennis: Zverev reaches Monte Carlo Masters last 16

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev has reached the last 16 stage of the Monte Carlo Masters after defeating Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 6-4 on Wednesday.
“It was a match at high level from both of us. I’m happy to be playing again at this level,” the German said.
The tournament in Monte Carlo is his first on clay court after suffering a serious foot injury at the French Open last year.
In the last 16, Zverev will face the winner of the match between third seed Daniil Medvedev and Lorenzo Sonego of Italy.
Earlier, Jan-Lennard Struff claimed a second spot for Germany in the last 16 with a 6-3 6-2 win against Australia’s Alex de Minaur.
“There’s no way I would have thought that it would go so well. I’m very, very happy with the energy I put on the court,” he said.
Struff will now face fourth seed Casper Ruud, who defeated Botic van de Zandschulp 7-5 7-6 (7-1).
