Teenager arraigned over alleged theft of cell phone worth N600,000

A 19-year-old Afolabi Stephen was on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of a cell phone valued N600,000
Stephen, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 3 at Ikoro-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant stole one handset phone valued at N600,000 belonging to one Akinloye Ayo.
Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until June 2 for hearing.
