On Thursday, the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, charged troops to take teamwork seriously for successful operations.
Mr Lagbaja gave the charge at the Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship (2024) Camp Fire Night at the Jaji Military Cantonment Range Jaji, Kaduna.
The week-long championship featured 109 officers and 433 soldiers.
The participants include personnel of the Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja; 1 Division Kaduna; 2 Division Ibadan; 3 Division Jos; and 6 Division Port Harcourt.
Others are 8 Division Sokoto; 81 Division Lagos; 82 Division Enugu; and 4 Special Forces Command Doma, Nasarawa.
Mr Lagbaja reminded the participants that the competition aimed to enhance their team spirit.
“From what we have seen, many of you have imbibed and showcased the desired comradeship,” he said.
The army chief urged them to draw from their lessons and apply them in their various formations’ training. He also called on them to be aware that no one could do it alone.
Mr Lagbaja, however, lauded the soldiers for their discipline, commitment, and efforts to ensure that their various divisions performed well in the competition.
“We must always prepare for the unforeseen. Things will not go right all the time. As a result, you must have contingency plans in everything you do and ensure that whatever the task is, you can accomplish it no matter the change in the situation,” he said.
