TCN restores Kainji-Birnin Kebbi 330kV transmission line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi single-circuit transmission line after nearly a month of outage caused by the collapse of a transmission tower.
In a statement on Thursday, the company’s management said power went off in the affected areas on September 7.
“The line was restored at 5:24 p.m. today, 1st October, 2026, following the erection of an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower at the tower location in Yauri,” it said.
It noted that the restoration works involved dismantling and decommissioning the collapsed tower, aligning and preparing the conductors and skywire, erecting the ERS tower, and carrying out other associated works required to restore the line safely.
“TCN engineers worked round the clock to complete the works and return the line to service as quickly and safely as possible,” TCN said.
The company thanked electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the outage.
It added that it remained committed to maintaining a stable and reliable transmission network.
