Taraba targets N3 billion in annual tourism revenue

The Taraba government says it targets N3 billion annually from tourism to boost its overall revenue generation.
Joseph Nagombe, the commissioner for heritage and ecotourism, disclosed this at Governor Agbu Kefas’ ongoing interactive session with Taraba critical stakeholders within Abuja and its environs on Wednesday.
Mr Nagombe noted that the Kefas administration has revived the tourism sector by resuscitating the popular Nwonyo International Fishing Festival, World Tourism Day Celebration and Febe cultural festivals.
He explained that the facilities at the sites of these festivals were being improved to attract more visitors and enable the state to earn good revenue in tourism.
“We are projecting N3 billion annually in tourism revenue when the upgrade of facilities at the various sites of the celebration of these festivals is completed.
“It is on record that the 2024 Nwonyo International Fishing Festival we celebrated was adjudged the best in the country, and we are poised to do more in the subsequent ones,” he said.
The commissioner appealed to Theophilus Danjuma to build a five-star hotel on the Mambilla Plateau, Sardauna LGA, to boost tourism activities.
He urged investors to take advantage of the enabling environment the current administration provides to invest in the tourism sector.
