Suspected kidnappers of Ondo ruler arrested: Police

The police say four suspected kidnappers of a traditional ruler in Ondo, Mukaila Bello, have been apprehended.
The suspects are Ilyasu Lawal (27), Mohammadu Abubakar Sidi (26), Garuba Bature (36), Abubakar Dangy (20), and Mohammed Mosere, (25).
Mr Bello, the Onikun of Ikun, was kidnapped on August 4 at Ago-yeye on the Owo/Ikare road and demanded N200 million for his release and three other persons travelling with him.
The victims were later released to their families.
“And we were able to recover three barrel guns, five live cartridges, two face masks, and two jackknives. So, we would soon charge the suspects to court further for prosecution,” said the police commissioner in Ondo, Oyediran Oyeyemi.
He disclosed that the suspects were nabbed by the anti-kidnapping squad of the police command in Ondo and the police command in Oyo.
The five suspects claimed they got N2 million as ransom. According to them, their leader, who is on the run, collected N1 million.
However, relatives of the kidnapped victims revealed that N4 million was paid as a ransom.
