The Supreme Court has disqualified Emmanuel Bwacha as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Taraba state.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who led a five-man panel, over a judgement of an appeal court and upholded the ruling of the high court which had ruled that the APC did not conduct a proper and valid primary election to choose its flag bearer.

One of the APC governorship aspirants, David Sabo Kente had approached the Jalingo Division of the Federal High Court to secure Mr Bwacha from the race of electoral infractions.

In its September 20, 2022 judgement, the high court nullified Mr Bwacha’s nomination as APC gubernatorial candidate for Taraba.

But on November 24, 2022, the Yola Division of the Court of Appeal set aside the high court’s ruling, averring that the petitioner had not sufficiently proved its case of certificate forgery among other allegations against Mr Bwacha.

Mr Bwacha, a two-term senator, representing Taraba South, resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party last year to secure the APC ticket.
