Super Eagles ready to lift AFCON trophy Sunday, say Peseiro, Musa

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has said Nigeria is ready to win the Africa Cup of Nations as the West African nation take on hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final of the tournament on Sunday.
The Portuguese tactician disclosed this during the pre-match press conference in Abidjan on Saturday where he commended the players, saying the team is happy and ready for the big game in a good atmosphere on Sunday.
“It is a big game, the final. It is going to be a good atmosphere and a full stadium,” Mr Peseiro told reporters. “Both teams want to win. I am happy and my team is also happy to reach the final. My boys are doing a fantastic job and what we want to win is the AFCON,” he added.
Nigeria is back in the final of the AFCON for the first time since they last conquered the continent in South Africa in 2013 and hope to win their fourth AFCON title against the hosts on Sunday.
On the other hand, Côte d’Ivoire will seek to match Nigeria’s three AFCON titles tally on Sunday and also hope to become the first host country to clinch the continental title for the first time since 2006 when Egypt won it on home soil.
Meanwhile, Eagles’ captain Ahmed Musa said he is anticipating a tough game against the host nation tomorrow but expressed the team’s readiness to win the AFCON.
“It is going to be a very tough game for us but like I said, we want to win the AFCON,” he said.
