Stoltenberg emerges finance minister as Norway forms new government

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store on Tuesday announced the composition of the country’s new cabinet after the collapse of the coalition, with the former NATO head of the finance ministry.
The broadcast by Norway’s VG newspaper said that former NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg is now the finance minister.
In late January, Mr Store confirmed that the Centre Party decided to withdraw from the country’s coalition government because of its opposition to the Labour Party’s intention to implement EU electricity directives into Norwegian law.
Mr Store said, “I stand here with a government made up of only the Labour’ Party ministers for the first time in 25 years. There are some new faces here, some well-known faces, and some very well-known faces.’’
Mr Stoltenberg confirmed that he had accepted the offer to step in as the country’s finance minister.
