South-East governors disorganised, failed to manage Igbo interests: Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has called for coordination and understanding among the South-East governors to move the zone forward.
The national publicity secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonnia, made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of Governor Peter Mbah on Monday in Enugu.
Mr Ogbonnia said coordination and understanding became important for the well-being of Ndigbo.
He charged them on collective Igbo interests above their interests to transform the region and give it direction.
The publicity secretary stressed that the governors should understand themselves, irrespective of the different political parties they belong to, and fight the course of Ndigbo in general.
“There must be a collective interest of Igbos and youths as well as synergy between Ohanaeze and the governors so that Igbo people will move on. We saw what happened in the last election,” the Pan-Igbo group spokesman said. “We have seven Igbo governors, but they couldn’t manage Igbo interests as they were not coordinated.”
He added, “So this time around, we hope the governors will improve on that.”
Mr Ogbonnia, who described Mr Mbah as an organised individual with resilience, zeal and capacity to serve, requested other regional governors to exhibit the same qualities.
