South African influencer Shamiso Mosaka kicked off Johannesburg flight over ‘unruly’ behaviour

South African TV personality, Shamiso Mosaka, was on Sunday removed from a flight from Durban to Johannesburg over what officials described as “unruly” behaviour.
According to local airline CemAir, Ms Mosaka, a presenter with MTV Base South Africa music channel for more than 140,000 followers on Instagram, failed to follow “safety regulations.”
The incident forced the pilot to stop the aircraft’s “already running engines” causing the flight to be delayed for more than 90 minutes and resulted in police officers being called to the scene.
Ms Mosaka filmed the whole interaction on Instagram Live.
In the video, she refused the police officers’ orders to leave the plane, saying she would not disembark until the airline book another flight for her which they declined.
Meanwhile, the influencer said she was racially targeted because the cabin crews failed to adequately provide information about what she has done wrong – an allegation CemAir denied.
There was no “racial profiling” – CemAir Chief Financial Officer Laura van der Molen told local newspaper, The Citizen. Ms Mosaka “refused to adhere to the regulations of the airline and unfortunately had to be forcibly removed.”
Subsequently, CemAir has referred the incident to South African police who will deal with it, the BBC reported. The situation occurred at King Shaka Zulu International Airport.
