Soludo urged to tackle flood, erosion in Ogbunike community

Governor Charles Soludo has been urged intervene to save Ogbunike, in Oyi LGA, from the menace of flooding and erosion.
A group, Team Make Ogbunike Great (TMOG), through its leader Harris Chuma-Odili, made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing journalists.
Mr Chuma-Odili said the recent flood damaged property worth millions of naira and a little child almost drowned in the flood.
Mr Chuma-Odili said accessing homes during rainfall had become a nightmare in the community as the situation was life-threatening and should be given urgent attention.
He said, “The flood is excessive; it flows into many houses during rainfalls. The last one condemned people’s property worth millions of naira. We are appealing to the state government to come to our aid, to address the root cause of the flooding, tackle the erosion menace and fix the dilapidated roads.
“Many roads are collapsing in Ogbunike due to flooding, and consequently posing threat to commuters.”
Mr Chuma-Odili also called on the relevant government agencies to provide shelters and relief materials for flood victims who had been displaced and faced with deadly health hazards.
