SOKAPU youth wing elects new leaders

The youth wing of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) has elected officials to pilot its affairs, with Maikano Mendous emerging as national coordinator.
Jeremiah Ishaya emerged deputy coordinator while Nathaniel Auta was elected secretary.
Also elected were Timothy Fillibus, assistant secretary; Bargo Danjuma, financial secretary; Elisha Bitrus, treasure, and Baa Yusuf, public relations officer.
The elections saw 345 delegates from across the country casting their ballots for different offices.
Victor Duniya, chairman of the electoral committee, who conducted the exercise, described the electoral process as satisfactory and commended the delegates for their orderly conduct.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the inauguration, Mr Mendous thanked the people for electing him and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to galvanise the youths of Southern Kaduna towards ensuring that the zone was placed on the path of peace and prosperity.
The new youth leader said that he was determined to reposition the youth wing to effectively address issues affecting Southern Kaduna, and called on his opponents to support his quest to improve the lot of Southern Kaduna youths.
SOKAPU is the socio-cultural umbrella body of all the 67 ethnic nationalities of the southern part of Kaduna State spread across 12 local government areas (LGAs). The state has a total of 23 LGAs.
