A Kano Sharia Court sitting in Fagge on Tuesday ordered the remand of 25-year-old Usman Usman for alleged criminal trespass and theft in a correctional centre.

Mr Usman pleaded not guilty to stealing six caps worth N40,000, two pairs of shoes worth N6,000, a Techno handset worth N5,000 and a radio worth N3,500.

The police charged Mr Usman, who lives in Sheka, Yar’Kasuwa, Kano, with criminal trespass and theft.

The Judge, Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed-Ahmed, ordered that Mr Usman be remanded until June 15, when the matter would be heard again.

Prosecution counsel, Abdul Wada, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in Sheka Bus-stop, in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano, on May 7.

Mr Wada said that at about 2:00 p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the complainant, Ishaq Mohammed’s house and stole caps, shoes, a handset, and a radio, all totalled N54,500.

The prosecutor said one of the caps was recovered from the defendant. He said the offence contravened sections 213, 133 and 201 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
