Senator Adeola Yayi named chairman senate committee on appropriations

Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has been announced as the chairman of the senate committee on appropriations, becoming one of the most powerful figures of the 10th Senate.
Mr Adeola, a popular politician who had previously represented Lagos West senatorial district, was announced on Tuesday during plenary as Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out the next leaders of the National Assembly’s standing committees. Mr Adeola will be deputised by the recently appointed chief whip, Ali Ndume.
Mr Akpabio disclosed that the committee was “quickly” put together in anticipation of any supplementary budget.
Announced alongside the appropriations committee are also committee on rules and business chaired by Benue lawmaker Titus Zam with Ekiti Central’s Opeyemi Bamidele as vice chairman; committee on national security and intelligence chaired by Bauchi lawmaker Shehu Buba Umar with Cross River South’s Asuquo Ekpenyong as vice chairman.
The Senate committee on legislative compliance will be chaired by Kebbi South senator Musa Garba Maidoki who will be deputised by Delta State’s Ede Onueya Dafinone.
