Security guard sentenced to one year in prison for stealing diesel

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old security guard, Muhammed Hassan, to one year in prison for stealing armoured cable and diesel.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The magistrate gave the convict an option of a fine of N50,000 or spending one year in prison.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Ahmed Labaran, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on February 24 by Harunna Jibril, the complainant.
Mr Labaran said the convict stole the armoured cable valued at N85,000 and diesel worth N690,000 before he was caught.
