Security guard jailed 12 months for robbing employer

An Area Court in Jos, on Tuesday, sentenced Yilji Nensenka, a security guard, to 12 months’ imprisonment for stealing his employer’s generator and car battery.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option of a fine of N50,000 and also asked the convict to pay a compensation of N137,000 or risk six months in jail in default.
Police prosecutor Daniel Damulak told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos Police Station on March 7 by Hamzat Saheed, the complainant.
Mr Damulak said the complainant reported that the convict he employed to guard his house stole his generator and car battery, valued at N275,000.
He said during the police investigation, the accused person confessed to having committed the offence.
