Scores feared dead as gas explosion rocks Karu bridge in Abuja

A tragic crash involving a Dangote cement-laden truck and over 15 other vehicles claimed scores of lives on Wednesday at Karu Bridge, Abuja.
Peoples Gazette counted about 15 cars involved in the incident, including more than seven that were burnt beyond repair.
The number of fatalities is yet to be ascertained at the moment of filing this report.
Abuja police and the Federal Road Safety Corps are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
The CNG-powered Dangote truck went up in flames as its gas cylinders exploded one after the other. Some of the exploded CNG cylinders could be seen on the road and in the drainage.
The accident left Mararaba-Nyanya blocked as security officials, soldiers, and policemen made efforts to clear the traffic.
