School mourns as another Ugandan varsity student found dead

Management of Makerere University, which is Uganda’s oldest and largest higher institution, has announced the mysterious death of a second-year student identified as Kabuye Kevin Charles on campus.
The university’s Nkrumah Hall confirmed the incident in a statement posted on social media, stating that the student, who was studying agriculture before his demise, was found dead inside a network mast cage on Monday.
“It’s with profound sadness that we announce to you the sudden demise of our resident at Nkrumah Hall, Kabuye Kevin Charles, a 2nd year student of Architecture who was found dead within a network mast cage, close to Makerere University College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) and Main Library on Monday morning,” the hall said.
The chairman of Nkrumah Hall, Joseph Ssekabira, in a separate statement, described the late Mr Charles as a dedicated student, stating the deceased would be missed by his colleagues.
“Kabuye was a dedicated second-year student pursuing BSc Architecture (BARC), and a resident of the Great Nkrumah Hall, room number C34. His sudden departure leaves a deep void within the Hall and across the entire campus,” the hall’s chairman stated.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the death of Charles were not immediately provided by the university management.
Recall that the Peoples Gazette reported earlier this week that a female student named Precious Musimenta was found dead in her hostel room at another Ugandan institution, Kyambogo University, on Monday.
The details around the death of Ms Musimenta still remains unclear but the university management assured that a post mortem report on the cause of her death would be provided.
Meanwhile, authorities, including law enforcement officials, have launched an investigation into the case.
