Sallah: Amotekun deploys 600 officers in Ondo, assures residents of peaceful celebration

The Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps, Ondo State chapter, said 600 personnel have been deployed to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.
The State Commander, Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, in a statement to journalists on Thursday in Akure, said the deployment cut across the 18 local government areas of the state.
According to Mr Adeleye, the deployment is part of proactive measures by the corps to forestall any form of criminal activity before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
He said, “Our men will be on 24-hour patrols, both on the highways and within towns, to ensure peace and security. We are working in synergy with other security agencies to guarantee a safe and joyous celebration for our Muslim brothers and sisters. Flashpoints and black spots have been identified and are being closely monitored, while patrol teams have been strategically positioned to respond swiftly to distress calls. I also use this opportunity to felicitate the Muslim community in Ondo State, and commend their contributions to peace, unity, and development. Let us celebrate moderately and remain law-abiding. We assure you of maximum security throughout the Sallah period.’’
The commander wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir and urged them to continue to uphold the values of sacrifice, love, and neighbourliness that the festival represented.
He, however, admonished residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest security outfit or through the corps’ emergency lines.
