Russia’s security chief, Cuba’s president discuss bilateral cooperation

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has received Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev to discuss bilateral cooperation, including issues about security and the economy, the Russian Security Council said.
The meeting took place on Monday in Havana, according to the statement.
“(Diaz-Canel and Patrushev) discussed issues about the practical interaction between Russia and Cuba in the fields of security, the economy, and culture,” the statement read.
It added that the two officials reaffirmed that “Russia and Cuba are reliable allies who are actively developing multifaceted cooperation preserving the continuity of intent to deepen bilateral ties.”
Earlier in February, Russia and Cuba agreed to further develop trade, economic, and investment cooperation, in particular, through the work of the Intergovernmental Trade Commission, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during his visit to Cuba.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez is expected to pay a visit to Russia in 2024 at Moscow’s invitation.
