Russian Invasion: EU leaders arrive in Kyiv

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa arrived in Kyiv on Monday, Ukrainian broadcaster Hromadske reported.
The video, published by the broadcaster, showed that the European officials were met by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The European Commission announced that its members, headed by von der Leyen, would go to Kyiv on Monday to declare support for Kyiv and announce new aid.
Russia has argued that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the conflict’s settlement and directly involve NATO countries in it.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.
The minister also said that providing training to the Ukrainian military amounted to direct involvement in the conflict.
