Russia not responsible for Nordstream gas leakage, Kremlin claims

Russian authorities say they have no hands in the leakage from Nordstream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.
“It is quite predictable and predictably stupid and absurd to make such assumptions,’’ Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said on Wednesday.
Mr Peskov said that it was necessary to wait for investigations of the leaks and to determine whether it had been an explosion or not.
The situation required “dialogue and operational cooperation of all sides” to clarify the cause of the leaks, he said.
“At the moment, we see the absolute lack of such dialogue.’’
Mr Peskov said it was not in Russia’s interest for gas flows through the pipelines to stop.
He said both lines of Nord Stream 2 are filled with gas.
“This gas costs a lot of money, and now, it is escaping into the air.’’
