Rodri rescues Manchester City with late equaliser against Chelsea

Rodri’s late goal salvaged a 1-1 draw for Manchester City against Chelsea, denying Pep Guardiola’s side a chance to level points with Arsenal.
In a crucial match following Liverpool and Arsenal’s impressive away wins, Erling Haaland missed an early opportunity for City, directing a close-range header over the bar.
Despite limited possession, Chelsea displayed attacking intent, with Nicolas Jackson missing a one-on-one chance against Ederson. Chelsea’s first-half efforts paid off when Raheem Sterling, formerly of City, found the far corner with a clinical finish three minutes before halftime.
Guardiola’s team responded energetically in the second half, but Kevin De Bruyne’s sublime free-kick went just over the bar. Chelsea remained a threat on the break, and Ederson made crucial saves to a potential own goal, and then Ben Chilwell.
Despite City’s pressure, Haaland missed a free header in the six-yard box. However, with seven minutes left, Rodri capitalised on a loose ball, firing home a thunderous strike.
The late goal set the stage for an intense finale, but despite sustained pressure, City could not secure a winning goal.
The draw extends City’s unbeaten home league run to 23 matches but leaves them four points behind leaders Liverpool. Chelsea, on the other hand, remains winless in their last eight meetings with the Premier League champions.
