Rivers’ Obio-Akpor LG caretaker chair appoints 100 special assistants

Caretaker chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has approved the appointment of 100 Special Assistants.
In a post shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, Mr Ihunwo announced that their appointments take immediate effect.
He wrote, “As the Caretaker Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, I have approved the appointment of one hundred Special Assistants.”
Congratulating the new appointees, Mr Ihunwo charged them to work effectively and key into his developmental agenda in line with the vision of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“Their appointment takes immediate effect,” he stated.
Mr Ihunwo’s appointment of 100 special assistants came two weeks after his counterpart in the Ikwere LGA, Darlington Orji, also appointed 600 special assistants, senior special assistants and executive assistants. .
Mr Ihunwo and Mr Orji are among the 23 LG caretaker chairmen sworn in by the governors on June 19, 2023, after their names were forwarded to the Victor Jumbo-led state House of Assembly, for approval.
The new LG chairmen replaced the outgone ones whose tenure expired on June 17, and according to the governor, they would remain in office until the conduct of the state LG election.
The Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli, on July 1, announced that the LG poll would be conducted on October 5.
