Rivers LG inaugurates staff verification committee

Chijioke Ihunwo, the chairman of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers, has inaugurated an 11-member staff verification committee to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the council’s staff.
Mr Ihunwo inaugurated the committee on Tuesday at Obio/Akpor, the council’s headquarters.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman said the verification exercise would equip his administration with a comprehensive database of the council’s staff.
”This exercise will enable us to have a comprehensive database of those working in the council; it will also streamline operations and curb inefficiency.
”We believe that the verification, when concluded, would also promote accountability as we deliver on our democratic mandate,” he said.
Sam Amadi, the head of the local government administration of the council, commended the chairman for the initiative and urged the committee to use their expertise in executing the assignment.
Responding on behalf of members, the committee chairman, Promise Ogele, who promised to deliver, thanked the council chairman for the confidence reposed in them.
