Rivers: Explosion hits Nigeria’s foremost crude oil pipeline Trans Niger

An explosion has been reported at the Trans Niger Pipeline at Bodo in Gokana LGA of Rivers.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road, which is under construction.
The exact cause of the explosion remains unclear.
The devastating development occurred amid the ongoing political rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and pro-Nyesom Wike lawmakers.
The pipeline, the nation’s major liquid hydrocarbon delivery channel, can transport about 180,000 barrels of crude per day to the Bonny Export Terminal.
Meanwhile, the police command in Rivers has confirmed the explosion via Grace Iringe-Koko, its spokeswoman, on Tuesday.
She said details of the explosion were still sketchy and assured that further information would be provided as investigations progressed.
