The House of Representatives Committee on Finance says it is satisfied with the pace and quality of work at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) permanent site in Abuja.

At an oversight visit to the site on Tuesday, the chairman of the House Committees on Finance, James Faleke (APC-Lagos State) commended the management for being pragmatic.

“For us, we can only commend the management and staff of the FIRS and, of course, the contractor, CCECC, for a job well done.

“We have seen the work; it is well designed. And where there was a need for amendments or questions, we asked and the answers were provided. So, we are satisfied with what we’ve seen, and we say kudos to the FIRS,” he said.

He said the 16-storey building structure project, which began in 2011, is now 65 per cent complete under the current management within one year.

Mr Faleke pledged the committee’s continued support for the service to deliver on its mandate, adding that FIRS was critical to the nation’s economic development.

Earlier, the executive chairman of FIRS, Zacch Adedeji, commended the lawmakers for supporting the organisation.

He assured the lawmakers that the FIRS will continue to deliver on its target and judiciously implement its budgets under his leadership.
