Rema gets $3 million to perform at Indian billionaire Ambani’s son’s wedding

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema is set to earn $3 million to perform at the wedding of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s son.
The artiste posted a video via his Instagram handle showing himself walking towards a private chartered plane in an all-black outfit. He used “Azaman” from his new album “He Is” as background music and added an Indian tricolour emoji.
Viral videos on Thursday showed his arrival in India ahead of the wedding ceremony between Akash Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Rema is charging a fee of $3 million for a live performance of his popular song “Calm Down” at the event.
The wedding party also includes performances by other famous international artistes.
According to reports, Canadian vocalist Justin Bieber was paid $10 million.
The couple is scheduled to get married on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The four-day wedding celebration marks the end of a series of extravagant events hosted by the families since March.
The guest list for the wedding includes high-profile figures such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, among others.
Rema’s second album, “HE IS”, made a strong debut on Spotify Nigeria, breaking the record for the biggest opening day streams in 2024 with 2.71 million.
The album, released on Thursday, surpassed the previous record held by Olamide’s “Ikigai,” which had 1.86 million streams.
