Nigerian Afrobeats stars Rema, Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, and Shallipopi have been nominated for the 2025 BET Awards.

The nominations push further their run of making waves on the global music scene.

Ayra Starr leads the pack with three nominations in the categories of Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act. Right behind her is Grammy-winning singer Tems, who earned a nod in the BET Her category for her standout tracks “Burning” and “Hold On.’’

Rema, Burna Boy, and Shallipopi each scored a nomination. Burna Boy is up for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Rema for Best International Act, while Shallipopi earned his first-ever BET nomination in the Best New International Act category, joining a lineup that includes Uncle Waffles, Odeal, and Black Sherif, among others.

This year’s nomination list is led by American rapper Kendrick Lamar with 10 nods, followed closely by Drake, Future, Doechii, and GloRilla, who scored six each.

SZA and The Weeknd both earned four nominations, while Ayra Starr, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Maverick City Music, Playboi Carti, Teddy Swims, and Tyler, the Creator each grabbed three.
