A prominent Ondo businessman and owner of Esther Estate, Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, has reportedly died by suicide hours after releasing an emotional video in which he spoke about challenges confronting his family and business.

Mr Kayode was said to have died on Thursday, although circumstances surrounding his death were not clear.

In the video, Mr Kayode spoke about his decision to will all his properties to his wife, Akinbolusere Esther, and his three Canada-based children. He said he made the decision without pressure, acknowledging his wife’s role throughout his life.

“I am doing this video on behalf of my family. I, Akinbolusere Kayode, am doing my will on my properties. I am doing this on my own; nobody put pressure on me. I woke up and left for work, leaving my family at home.

“The first and second machines I was using at work developed a fault. I was imagining what was happening. When I started my business, I started from scratch and was very transparent about it. My wife knew how I suffered. She didn’t trouble me. I will all my properties to my wife, Akinbolusere Esther, who hails from Ekiti, and my three children who are in Canada.

“My (wife) stood by me when I had nothing and never for once wronged me. She was very supportive when I had nothing, especially when I was working as a barber. I was the one who destroyed everything with carelessness,” Mr Kayode stated.

Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesman for the police command in Ondo, confirmed the businessman’s demise.

Meanwhile, the video has sparked reactions on social media, with many alleging that Mr Kayode might have been threatened to make the video.

An Instagram user, angelz.unlimited, said, “Ask a psychologist. This man was definitely threatened to do this video.”

“RIP to the dead, but this video doesn’t look ordinary to me. I didn’t say it’s spiritual, but something didn’t seem right here,” ogaagricfarm commented.

Irenitemi noted, “Is he the one driving and recording at the same time? And still saying the right words? Doing three things at the same time? Or someone holding gun is with him in the car? This isn’t ordinary.”

“This doesn’t look intentional. He looks beaten and tortured; look at the lip and side of his face. Also, he was supposed to show people around him if the video wasn’t made under duress. You can’t make this kind of video without independent witnesses. I am 100% sure that he was under threat in this video,” iremaxi_realtyng said.

Danlareysan added, “He was not the one driving. There is more to this.”
