Rashford beats Iwobi, De Bruyne to win September ‘Player of the Month’

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been voted the ‘EA Sports Premier League Player’ for September to win the award for the second time in his career.
He won the highly coveted honour at the expense of Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi, Kelvin De Bruyne, Jacob Ramsey, Philip Billing and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
Rashford scored twice and got two assists as he helped the Red Devils win their two league matches in September against Leicester City and Arsenal to continue United’s unbeaten run.
The two goals came in United’s impressive 3-1 against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old striker struggled to regain his form last season after he underwent shoulder surgery that sidelined him for over two months.
But he appears to have regained his form under new manager Erik ten Hag since preseason, with five-goal contributions in six games in the league this season.
“It’s a good feeling. We didn’t start the season so strongly, so to get four wins on the bounce is really good,” said Rashford. “It’s still fairly new with the manager, and we’ve got much better at doing the things he wants us to. But there are still a lot of steps to take, and we’re all looking forward to doing that together.”
He disclosed that the assist he gave to United’s new boy Anthony to score on his debut against Arsenal was his favourite moment of the month.
“My favourite moment of September was actually an assist! Antony’s first goal on his debut,” he added. “It was a massive moment, and it gives us strength and courage, and seeing him come into the team and score right away is massively important.”
