Qatar 2022: France defeat Morocco to reach second consecutive World Cup finals

Defending champions France thrashed Morocco 2-0 on Wednesday to qualify for the finals of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In the match played at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday night, Morocco started strongly in the first half, but Theo Hernandez’s 5th minute strike for France, made the difference in the one-sided half.
The North African nation almost scored an equaliser, a goal that could have been the Goal of The Tournament but Jawad El Yamiq’s overhead kick unluckily struck the low bottom of the post.
Morocco continued as the better team in the second half of the game, maintaining possession of the ball but couldn’t break through the solid France defence-line spearheaded by Raphael Varane.
Barely 60 seconds on the pitch, substitute Randal Kolo Muani sealed the victory for Les Bleus with his 79th minute goal, following an impressive control by Kylian Mbappe inside the Moroccans’ 18-yard area, sending France into the final of this year’s World Cup.
Muani became the player to score the second fastest goal in FIFA World Cup history as a substitute.
Despite the defeat, The Atlas Lions of Morocco have every reason to keep their heads high as they made history in this tournament to become the African nation to reach the last four of a FIFA World Cup, beating Belgium, Spain and Portugal to achieve the feat.
France will now defend the crown they won four years ago in Russia against Argentina, who beat Croatia 3-0 in the other semifinal match yesterday in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday.
