President Cup: FCT football scribe commends teams for impressive football display

The Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association, Haruna Ilerika, has commended FCT teams for their impressive display at the just concluded 2025 FCT President Cup on Saturday in Abuja.
Mr Ilerika praised the football mastery displayed by the teams, noting that it was a testament to the growing strength of football in the FCT.
He said, “I am thrilled to see two teams worthy of representing FCT at the national level. It shows that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.”
Mr Ilerika also congratulated the winners of the men’s tournament, Family Worship Champions (FWC) Football Club and praised the runners-up, EFCC FC, for their impressive performance.
He stated, “The level of football displayed in FCT is impressive, both teams that competed in the final are from the Nationwide League One (NLO). The programme aims to enhance team performance for future competitions. I am optimistic that there will be significant improvement in the teams before the President Federation Cup proper. Our plans for a pre-season training programme is set to begin on Monday, February 24.”
Mr Ilerika also expressed gratitude to the media for their robust coverage of the tournament and thanked coaches, stakeholders, and players for their contributions.
“The association has organised a pre-season NLO tournament, featuring 33 division one teams and 10 division two teams. I hope that by the end of the year, a national team will emerge from FCT,” he said.
The 2025 FCT President Federation Cup, which began on February 3, ended on February 22 at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja.
