POS operators charging above N200 to be arrested: CBN

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has vowed to arrest and prosecute Point of Sale agent charging above 200 naira for cash swap.
The apex bank governor stated this on Tuesday during his visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the new currency redesign and bank policy.
He noted that things have improved significantly with the introduction of over-the-counter payments in addition to ATM withdrawals and the use of Super-agents.
Mr Emefiele reiterated that there was no going back on the February 10 deadline to swap currencies.
The Supreme Court had earlier issued a temporary restraining order against the federal government, CBN and banks, preventing them from implementing the February 10 deadline for the currency swap.
Also, last week, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) advised the CBN to consider extending the February 10 deadline for swapping old naira notes.
