Police storm home of sacked Oyo park manager ‘Auxiliary’, recover guns, ammunition

Detectives from the Oyo state police command, on Tuesday, raided the residence of Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as ‘Auxiliary’, sacked chairman of Park Management System (PMS), in Ibadan.
Peoples Gazette learnt that during the raid, dangerous weapons which include firearms were found in Mr Lamidi’s residence located in the Olodo Area of Oyo’s capital city, Ibadan.
The development came barely twenty-four hours after Governor Seyi Makinde dissolved the PMS, shortly after taking his oath of office for a second term.
Mr Makinde had said in the statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, that the dissolution of the PMS was with immediate effect.
The dissolution came after Mr Lamidi and his boys were seen jubilating at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, the venue of Mr Makinde’s swearing-in.
“I have the directive of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to inform you of the dissolution of the Disciplinary Committee, Park Management System with immediate effect from today, Monday, 29th May 2023,” an excerpt from the statement signed Mr Ogunwuyi on behalf of the governor read on Monday.
Recall that the Oyo state government announced the appointment of Mr Lamidi to head the PMS disciplinary committee in February.
The Gazette gathered from sources that the raid on Mr Lamidi’s apartment by detectives followed an “intelligence report” that he and his boys were planning to launch an attack in protest against their sack.
“Although, he escaped but some of his boys who wanted to repel the security agents were fired at and arrested,” one of the sources who is aware of the raid said.
Adewale Osifeso, the spokesperson for the police in Oyo, could neither confirm nor deny the raid on Mr Lamidi’s residence when contacted by The Gazette on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr Osifeso, however, promised to get back to our reporter when the command is able to speak on the development.
However, in a viral video showing the residence of Mr Lamidi – items such as cash, charms, live cartridges, knives, guns, and cutlasses, among several others were allegedly found in the house.
