Police say five armed robbery suspects nabbed in Akwa Ibom

The police command in Akwa Ibom says it has detained five persons over suspected involvement in armed robbery in Eket LGA.
The command’s spokeswoman, Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Ms John said that the suspects were apprehended following a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots in Eket on Monday.
“During the raid, five suspects, including three men and two women, were apprehended. Dried leaves suspected to be a hard drug called Colorado, loud and other liquid intoxicants were recovered.
“Also recovered were tramadol and codeine tablets, methamphetamine, otherwise known as ice, an ATM card, and N15,800 cash,” she said.
The police spokesman said that the suspects were currently under investigation to ascertain the extent of their involvement in criminal activities.
Ms John said that the command remained committed to an effective campaign against crime across the state.
She urged the public to report suspicious activity in their immediate surroundings to the police.
