Police rescue six women, one-year-old kidnap victims in Zamfara

The police in Zamfara, in conjunction with local vigilance group, have rescued six women and one-year-old kidnap victims from bandits.
A police spokesman Muhammad Shehu stated in Gusau on Sunday that abductors seized the victims in Kadamutsa village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state on November 24.
The seven victims were, however, on Zurmi-Jibia Highway on Saturday, November 26, rescued via intelligence made available to the police.
“Police operatives mobilised to the area where a search-and-rescue operation was conducted along the Zurmi-Jibiya federal highway, leading to the unconditional rescue of all the victims unhurt.
“The rescued victims were taken to hospital for medical checks, debriefed by the police, and returned to their families,’’ Mr Shehu stated.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, commended the police operatives and vigilantes for the successful rescue operation.
Mr Shehu said the commissioner also congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom and reiterated the police’s continued determination to rid the state of crime.
