Police nab three suspected gunrunners in Delta

The police command in Delta says it has apprehended three suspected gunrunners in the state.
The spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe, told journalists on Wednesday in Warri that the suspects were arrested on Tuesday in Warri South LGA.
He said that the trio were nabbed by the command’s operatives deployed to Ughelli on a special assignment by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Olufemi Abaniwonda.
Mr Edafe said that the police team was led by ASP Julius Robinson drafted to curtail criminal activities in Ughelli and its environs.
He said that the feat was achieved following a confession by a suspect earlier arrested with a fabricated AK-47 rifle at Ekpan Community, Uvwie Local Government of the state.
Mr Edafe alleged that one of the suspects usually concealed and conveyed the arms from Plateau to Delta.
He said that the suspects had admitted to the crime, adding that they were currently in police custody while investigation was ongoing.
The police spokesman quoted the CP as urging Delta residents to always provide the police with useful and timely information on suspicious happenings in their neighbourhood.
