Police nab eight robbery suspects in Kano

The police command in Kano State has arrested eight robbery suspects along Katsina Road and Kurna Asabe area of Ungogo Local Government Area of the state.
A statement by the spokesman of the command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, indicated that one Ibrahim Rabiu of Kwanar Ungogo Quarters, along with seven others, were apprehended during the operation.
He said that Mr Rabiu was identified as a leader of a gang of over 200 youths who, on Nov. 9, blocked the Kano-Katsina road, extorted money from innocent individuals and motorists and vandalised people’s property.
He named the seven other gang members Aminu Adamu, Danye, Halifa Bashir, Jamilu Mas’udu, Abubakar Surajo, Ahmad Surajo, Muftahu Surajo and Ibrahim Surajo.
“We recovered two unregistered motorcycles, three swords, four cutlasses, five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 135 pieces of exol tablets, ten sachets of diazepam tablets, 150 pieces of rubber solution and 27 potwin injections during the operation,” he said.
He quoted the commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, as assuring the public that the command would remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for Kano residents.
