Police kill one, arrest three robbery suspects in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra State said its operatives killed one suspect, arrested three others and recovered a beretta pistol and dagger from the suspects.
This is contained in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga to journalists on Sunday in Onitsha.
According to him, the operatives in Anambra smashed an armed gang at Igboukwu in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
“The gang which boarded a commercial bus from Nnewi arrived at a police checkpoint and were stopped for a search. One of the hoodlums alighted, pulled a beretta pistol but was gunned down. A search of the bag they were travelling with yielded a concealed dagger,” he said
Mr Ikenga said that the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, praised the police personnel for their vigilance and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for thorough investigation.
He noted that Mr Adeoye also ordered the immediate release of two elderly passengers who boarded the bus at a different location.
He said that the command wished to assure the good people of Anambra that it would always live up to its responsibility in safeguarding lives and property of all law-abiding citizens in the state.
