Police induct 565 constables in Kogi

The Kogi State police command has inducted 565 newly trained combat-ready constables after an intensive weapons and combat operations course that commenced on April 13, 2026.
Speaking at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Nasir Kankarofi, congratulated the graduands on their successful training and induction.
He said the rigorous training was approved by the Inspector General of Police (I-G), Tunji Disu, and was designed to produce agile, smart and combat-ready officers to tackle crime, banditry, terrorism and other vices across the state.
Mr Kankarofi also commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for his unwavering support to the Command during training and operations.
Mr Kankarofi urged the graduands to remain dedicated, respect human rights, and practise community-driven, democratic policing.
He also announced that officers who distinguished themselves during the training would be absorbed into the newly created Violent Crime Response Unit.
According to him, the unit will be an elite corps specialised in rapid response to violent crimes, which will be inaugurated soon.
The commissioner appreciated instructors, medical personnel, the transport department and Police Mobile Force trainers for producing officers he described as “smart-looking and battle-ready.”
Mr Kankarofi said that the passing out of the constables marked a new chapter in crime fighting in Kogi State.
“The days of the criminal are numbered. These young, able-bodied constables are ready to take the war to the criminals, as we have always done,” he stated.
He urged the public to support security agencies with timely intelligence and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safer streets and secure communities under the leadership of the I-G and President Bola Tinubu.
