Police bust organ-harvesting syndicate in Imo, free teenage victim

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command on Thursday arrested one Justine Emmanuel, while allegedly kidnapping a lady for suspected organ harvesting.
In a post on its official X handle on Tuesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, said the 19-year-old victim has been rescued.
Mr Okoye said, “Operatives of the Imo State Police Command on 10/10/2024 successfully dismantled a suspected kidnapping/organ trafficking syndicate operating in the Douglass area of Imo State. During the operation, one suspect, identified as Justine Emmanuel, a 38-year-old male from Amimo in the Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, was arrested, and a 19-year-old young lady whose name is withheld for privacy was rescued.”
The police spokesperson said that officers of the command on patrol made the arrest after observing the syndicate in a blue and white bus forcefully whisking the lady away.
He stated that the victim was being taken to “an undisclosed location where they intended to kill her and harvest her organs for monetary gain.”
