Police assure Enugu residents of adequate security during Christmas

The police command in Enugu has promised that it will ensure adequate security for lives and property during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Police commissioner Kanayo Uzuegbu made the promise in a statement on Sunday.
“I wish all residents a festive season filled with peace, happiness and joy.
“Everyone should celebrate responsibly and ensure brotherly love and care, particularly for the poor and needy, as such acts are the reason for the season,” the statement said.
Mr Uzuegbu reportedly directed area commanders, divisional police officers and heads of tactical and operational units to, in line with the already devised ‘2023 Yuletide Crime-Prevention Strategy’, sustain the existing crime-busting tempo in the state.
He charged them to ensure robust visibility patrol and raiding of criminal black spots within their areas of responsibility.
The state police chief warned that they would be held vicariously liable for any untoward security breaches in their areas of coverage.
“I am calling on the residents to remain law-abiding even as they celebrate and relish the serene security atmosphere existing in the state,” stated the police commissioner. “I, however, urged them to be security conscious and promptly say something when they see something by calling the command’s emergency hotlines at 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202, or 08098880172, or by sending emails to infoenugupolice@gmail.com.”
