Police arrest two for raping 13-yr-old girl

The police command in Gombe on Tuesday nabbed two men for raping a 13-year-old girl on a farm in Bajoga, Funakaye LGA.
The command’s spokesman, ASP Mahid Abubakar, said this while parading the suspects before journalists on Tuesday in Gombe.
The police arrested the suspects, Yayaji Muhammad, 24 and Muhammad Barau, 20, following a complaint by Malam Jauro, the father of the victim.
“On February 8, 2024, about 2:00 p.m., a complaint was received via Malam Jauro at Bajoga Division that on February 7, about 2:10 p.m. The above-mentioned suspects conspired among themselves, attacked and threatened his daughter.
“The suspects, with another, forcefully had carnal knowledge of the 13-year-old girl of the same address,” said Mr Abubakar.
He said 20 other suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, possession of suspected hard drugs, impersonation and possession of substances suspected to be marijuana.
According to him, exhibits recovered from the suspects include three Bajaj motorcycles, 88 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be marijuana, and 110 tablets of suspected hard drugs, amongst others.
Mr Abubakar restated the command’s commitment to combating crimes and ensuring the safety of residents.
He said the suspects would be arraigned after the investigation.
“We urge the public to continue to provide vital information to aid the fight against crime,” he said.
