Police arrest one as gunmen kill Enugu lawmaker

The police command in Enugu State has arrested a suspect for an alleged connection to the gruesome murder of a lawmaker, Nelson Sylvester Nnacheta, in the Nsukka axis of the state.
On Monday, the command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said the criminal gang killed Mr Nnacheta, a.k.a “Ofunwa”, on Sunday night.
“Nnacheta, who is identified as the councillor representing Eha-Ulo ward in Ehalumona community, was shot and gruesomely murdered on July 16, 2023, at about 11:30 p.m., at Umualoji village in Ehalumona community of Nsukka Local Government Area.
“Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Ammani, has ordered an intense discreet investigation and manhunt of the assailants,” he said.
Mr Ndukwe said further development would be communicated in due course.
