Police arrest 32-year-old Nigerian for stealing kitchen utensils

A 32-year-old trader, Mohammad Garba, was arraigned on Thursday before the Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing kitchen utensils worth N380,000.
The police charged Mr Garba with criminal conspiracy, shop breaking and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Chidi Leo, told the court that the complainant, Nasiru Aminu, reported the matter at a police station on November 2.
Mr Leo said that the defendant and two others at large broke into the complainant’s shop and stole kitchen utensils worth N380,000.
He said the defendant was caught and handed over to the police with the stolen items while the others escaped.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must be employed, evidence of tax payment must be produced to the Kaduna government, and the address must be verified.
The magistrate adjourned the case until December 9 for a hearing.
