Police arraign sales rep for stealing beverages

A 24-year-old man, David Clement, was on Thursday arraigned before a Kaduna chief magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing beverages worth N1 million from a supermarket.
The police charged Mr Clement, who lives in Barnawa, Kaduna, with theft.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 14 at the Saviour’s Supermarket on Ethopia Road, Barnawa.
The prosecutor said the defendant, who is a sales representative of the supermarket, was caught on CCTV making sales worth N1 million and did not remit the money.
Mr Leo said the offence contravenes section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
