Police arraign quinquagenarian for land grab

A quinquagenarian, Wasiu Ali, was on Friday arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for wilful damage and land grab.
The police charged Mr Ali with conspiracy, land grab, threatening violence and willful damage of a signpost.
Prosecution counsel Foluke Adedosu told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in August in the Apata Ganga area, Ibadan.
She alleged that the defendant and others at large illegally acquired two plots of land worth N4 million, belonging to Nurudeen Abimbola.
The prosecution counsel also alleged that the defendant damaged the corner pillars and a signpost worth N80,000, belonging to Abimbola.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, O.A. Enilolobo, granted the defendant N1 million bail and two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 31, 2023, for a hearing.
